United International Charities Foundation, Liberia & Philippines
Bumblebee has been invited to work in partnership with the UNITED INTERNATIONAL CHARITIES FOUNDATION to develop sustainable projects in Liberia and the Philippines.
An appeal was made by the foundation to Bumblebee enterprises, in regard to the immediate crises at hand with the commencement of the new regime and the end of the civil unrest in Liberia. In Monrovia, there were growing numbers of homeless children- and many orphanages that had been destroyed, as a result of the war. Sponsorship programs had been withdrawn because of the political instability.
One such orphanage was Fatima orphanage- where 176 children were in desperate need, and the orphanage, in threat of closure.
Bumblebee Enterprises, in response to this appeal, working through its children's educational arm, created a crises management plan-together with an educational project. This project 'CHOCOLATE CITY' saw the recycling of educational materials and the painting of school furniture by school aged children along with the acquiring of equipment essential to the development of farming and design projects. - This container is to be painted and set as gift form the children in Australia to the children of Liberia. It will be used as a lockable room and will be the first of many such containers. A sponsorship program is in the process of being developed to assist the on going needs of these and other children- and this includes the creation and marketing of organic food, clothing and toys here in Australia along with recycling projects that will be sold under the label Bumblebee factory.
Bumblebee enterprises is to visit Liberia and deliver the shipment, and will be working through the steps, with this community, in order to developing a five year business plan for the orphanage for on going sustainability. This plan includes bringing in expertise in design and resource management- as well as the marketing- strategies essential to sustainability.
Bumblebee has been asked to work on a similar project in the Philippines and an initial visit has been planned for the 12 The of August 2006 to meet with the communities involved and to work with them in facilitation to develop the steps for the project-which includes skill development, resource management, and business plan with in the framework set by the organic philosophy and principle.
